The Bane.

'The Bane' - a force of chaos, that seeks to dominate and control. Lacking empathy and kindness, it exists as a supernatural force that drives those who fall under its sway to commit acts considered evil by normal societal norms. The empowered people who follow the Bane, are Metas.

When a Harbinger Comet triggers Metas to change, those aligned with 'The Bane' 'express' in various ways, becoming Metas with super powers.

Some become 'Hounds'; Less powerful than fully expressed Bane, they can shift between human form and their alternate animalistic form. In the form of Hounds, they have enhanced speed, strength, senses, rapid healing, claws and fangs and some have more clearly developed aspects of animals, like fur. They also have suppressed empathy for others. In short, perfect killing machines.

The Hounds are used to seek out those Metas which directly oppose the Bane, known as 'The Godsent'.

Fully expressed Bane Metas have extremely powerful abilities such as lightning, flame, wind, super strength or speed. They are far more powerful and dangerous than the Hounds. They act as the shock troops that can match the fully expressed 'Godsent' Metas, who oppose the Bane.

An empowered Bane Metas recognise each other by a red aura, seen at first glance, though this dissipates from view thereafter.

The Bane are what you might consider evil 'supervillains' in comic book culture, with little in the way of redeeming qualities once 'Changed'.

Bane Metas can also be 'created' , not simply 'triggered to develop.
